If you are a seafood fan and want to enjoy authentic konkani-marathi cuisine and some of the interesting fusions as well,New India Cuisine is the place to visit. Started with konkani food heritage, the New India Cuisine serves some of the mouth watering dishes from western coast of India.
A humble and relatively small restaurant on south congress avenue in bustling Austin downtown gives a very homely and rustic ambience. The Austiner’s have wholeheartedly embraced this rare and interesting restaurant and appreciate its not so typical Indian dishes which range from Mumbai’s Vada Pav to Malvan’s Tesree Masala and from Zunka Bhakri to Vindaloo.
It’s an outcome of Annu and Mahesh’s passion for authentic food and being in the restaurant business, that started way back from their heritage in Mumbai. It has poured in enough maturity to the menu and we had fun with our Whole Curried Mussels, Szechuan Chicken, Grilled Salmon, Lamb Samosa and Bhakri. Each dish did justice to its original tradition.
They also serve lunch thali and could be good option to taste the variety of dishes that New India has to offer. My whole hearted thanks to Mahesh and Annu for carrying on their passion even in a foreign land and serving us the delicacies we grew up with. Happy dining !!!
